What is Yoga ?

 

Yoga means to unite.

To unite the universe and body, God and self, the consciousness and power, Siva and Shakti.

 

Yoga  gives physical & mental health, liberation from sufferings, spiritual awakening of Kundalini-shakti, Self-realization.
                              

                  

Practice (Sadhana)

 

1. Body purification : Sat-kriya 

       

Neti, Dauti, Kunjar-kriya, Shankapraksharana-kriya

 

2.  Body posture : Asana 

 

3.  Breathing exercises : Pranayama, Mudra 

  

4.  Meditation 

 

Dharana (concentration)         

 

Dhyana (Mantra+Visualization) 

 

Atma-vichara (Self-inquiry) 

 

5. Samadhi

 

Savikalpa-samadhi : We lose physical body consciousness and experience the subtle body (Sukshma sharira).

 

Kevara- nirvikalpa samadhi :  Pure consciousness, bliss  in non-dual state. There is no mind, nor thoughts in trance. (Turiya)

 

Sahaja-samadhi (Maha-mudra) : Enlightenment  (Turiyatita), Absolute freedom (Mukti)
  
                      

 

                      Initiation (Diksha) 

 1. Mantra-diksha:  Teacher gives suitable Mantra and the seed of practice.

 Mantra protects us from negative energy, spirits and karma.

2. Shaktipath-diksha:  Teacher gives spiritual energy that awakens Kundalini shakti.  Kundalini shakti introduces us to Samadhi.

Atma-siddhi : Enlightenment
